5 Reasons to Consider Installing Under Floor Heating

by Glen Shelton

Floor heating is an extremely popular choice and can be found in many households over the world. When looking into floor heating solutions, there are several factors that you must consider in order to determine if this type of system is right for you. Here are 5 of the most important reasons why you should choose radiant under floor heating:

Reason No. 1: Saving money

It is no surprise that the number one reason for installing under floor heating systems in your home is to reduce money on heating costs. Because floor heating systems use the entire floor area for radiating heat, it can operate at lower temperatures than traditional heating systems such as forced air systems or wall radiators. Since these systems are cheaper to operate, you will end up spending less money on heating the entire house.

Reason No. 2: Comfort

Radiant heating provides you with an insurmountable comfort when walking on the floor, as it consistently keeps it warm. You may have noticed that whenever your feet are cold, your whole body feels cold. By allowing your feet to constantly be warm, you will feel a surge of comfort through your whole body. Cold or hot spots are also a thing of the past. Since the room is warmed evenly, there are no such spots in a room.

Reason No. 3: Aesthetics

Unlike with traditional heating systems, your house does not need to be designed around the heating system itself. You won't have to worry about heat vents or ducts on the walls of your house with floor heating solutions. With that in mind, you can design your house in any way you like, without being constrained by the placement of the heating system. Another benefit of not having heat vents in a home is that you are able to place the furniture wherever you want without having to worry about blocking any of the vents.

Reason No. 4: Control

Because floor heating systems are often separated into zones, you can control at any time the amount of heating in each of these areas. For example, you could turn up the heating in the living room during the day and completely turn it off in bedrooms or areas that you only use at night.

Reason No. 5: Health

Traditional systems often accumulate mould and dust over time, allergens that are released into the air every time the furnace kicks in. This can cause a plethora of health problems, all of which can be avoided by using a floor heating system. Radiant heating systems have no ducts for bacteria to hide in and can often help eliminate these allergens rapidly by quickly drying out the floors when they get wet.
